LCMC Health Moves Tulane Staff and Patients to EJGH

NEW ORLEANS – LCMC Health said it has completed the move of Tulane Medical Center doctors, patients and services to East Jefferson General Hospital.

LCMC purchased Tulane Hospital — along with Lakeview Regional Medical Center and Tulane Lakeside Hospital — from HCA Healthcare a year ago and announced its plan to move Tulane Medical Center functions to EJGH at that time.

The move brings new services, providers and staff to EJGH. A spokesperson said the hospital has 37 new critical care units, 15 new clinics and eight new operating rooms. The emergency department and cancer center have been expanded. LCMC said it is investing $15 million in imaging and interventional equipment and $56 million in infrastructure improvements.

The emergency department at Tulane Medical Center will remain open. Tulane’s new nursing program, which will launch in 2024, will initially be housed at 131 S. Robertson Street before moving to the Tulane Medical Center, which will also house the college track office, a multi-specialty clinic and labs.

A spokesperson said the health system is committed to upgrading EJGH to a “world-class academic center of excellence.” A planned $220 million capital investment includes construction to accommodate clinical service lines transferring from Tulane Medical Center.

LCMC said it plans nursing and healthcare professional pipeline programs for current and future employees.
