Lakeview Regional Medical Center Announces Atkinson As Human Resources VP, McDow TMC Medical Staff Director

COVINGTON, LA – Lakeview Regional Medical Center, a campus of Tulane Medical Center, has named R. Chris Atkinson, SPHR as Lakeview Regional’s vice president of Human Resources, and Rose Anne McDow as director of medical staff for Tulane Health System.

         As a strategic leader and senior-level executive with 19 years of human resources within the healthcare environment, Atkinson brings unique and critical perspectives to Lakeview Regional Medical Center, reps said. Atkinson assumed his responsibilities beginning June 28, 2017.

         Atkinson’s career reflects a proven, effective and creative leader, reps said. He has served in various human resources roles with Ochsner Health System since 1998, leading teams in field divisions in Baton Rouge, the New Orleans North Shore region and the New Orleans flagship campus. Most recently he was director, human resources/ strategic business partner. Career accomplishments and highlights include an integral role in the integration of two Louisiana hospitals acquired by the Ochsner Health System, leading the human capital integration. During Hurricane Katrina’s devastation, Atkinson led employee support and advocacy programs at Ochsner, helping stabilize the workforce and providing personal and financial resources to employees and their families suffering severe losses from the storm. Most recently Atkinson facilitated the cultural and operational integration of Slidell Memorial Hospital, a jointly operated partner in the Ochsner Health Network.

         Atkinson earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Southern Mississippi where he was in the Honors Section—Department of Management. He completed his Master’s of Business Administration at University of New Orleans. A resident of southeast Louisiana for more than 30 years and a community volunteer for 26 years, Atkinson is married to Alison and they are the proud parents of two children: Brooklyn, 12, and Connor, 10.

         Atkinson's commitment and dedication to excellence in healthcare and employee engagement will help the hospital continue to grow with the best professionals to serve the community’s residents, reps said.

         McDow brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Tulane Health Systems as an employee of Lakeview’s campus for 29 years and director of the Medical Staff for the last 20 years, reps said. McDow has brought a new dimension in her service as the former president of the Louisiana Society of Medical Staff Services and her certifications as provider credentialing specialist as well as provider of medical staff services management. McDow is well respected by physicians, staff, and her peers and is an asset Lakeview is proud to leverage across its three campuses.
