Lakeview Hospital Appoints Katie Cook Senior Director of Perioperative Services

Thumbnail Image001COVINGTON, La. — Lakeview Hospital has appointed Katie Cook senior director of perioperative services. She will oversee the surgical services, endoscopy, PACU, central sterile, and pre-admit testing departments. Cook joined the Lakeview Hospital team in 2013 when she served as emergency department RN team leader. She then became associate director of emergency services at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic before returning to Lakeview Hospital in 2021 as the trauma program director. In this position, Cook was responsible for the planning and development of the trauma program through the elevation from Level III to Level II. She will continue to oversee the program.

Cook received her nursing degree from Baton Rouge General School of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in mursing from Louisiana State University at Alexandria. She earned a Master of Science in nursing and healthcare leadership from Galen College of Nursing and was selected for the HCA Leadership Institute’s director development program. Cook also led a facility project that helped identify human trafficking victims in the emergency department and collaborated with the local human trafficking task force to formulate a facility guide for resource referral and hospital protocol for managing victims. She is a member of the Society of Trauma Nurses Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, a commission member of Louisiana Emergency Response Network Region 9, a member of the St. Tammany Youth Service Bureau Board of Directors, and a volunteer for the Youth Service Bureau CASA Program.
