Lafayette General To Buy Regional Medical Center Of Acadiana

LAFAYETTE, LA (AP) — Officials with Lafayette General Health say they will acquire Regional Medical Center of Acadiana later this year from HCA MidAmerica, a division of the Nashville, TN-based Hospital Corporation of America.

         The Advocate’s Marsha Sills reports the deal is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2015. Officials say the 128-bed hospital will be renamed Lafayette General Southwest.

         Lafayette General Health President David L. Callecod said the company's main hospital facility, Lafayette General Medical Center, has reached its capacity for more patients.
