NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Krewe of Endymion's 2017 Extravaganza held after its Mardi Gras parade will feature performances by KISS, rapper FloRida and 70s pop group, KC and the Sunshine Band.
The super krewe's founder, Ed Muniz, says the entertainers are always invited to ride in the parade and serve as celebrity grand marshals. He says some accept the invitation and others decline, fearing they might ruin their voices before their post-parade performances. KISS' lead singer Gene Simmons was the parade's grand marshal in 2005. Muniz says 2017 will be KC and the Sunshine Band's fourth Endymion appearance.
Last year's Extravaganza featured Pitbull and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune’s Doug MacCash reports Endymion is the largest parade with 81 floats, 3,200 riders, and a $7 million budget. It's scheduled to roll Feb. 25, the Saturday before Fat Tuesday.
