Karla Marie Cochran serves as the Director of Institutional Development at the International School of Louisiana. She oversees all areas of Development through Fundraising and Marketing. She has worked for the organization since the year 2008 and was promoted to this position in July of 2014. Cochran started her Marketing career in the year 1999 as Marketing Project Manager at Latter & Blum Realtors, Inc. Soon after, she served at Bank of New Orleans as Director of Marketing and Public Relations until the year 2004, when she discovered the need for a network and communication piece to represent the professional Latinos in the New Orleans area. She founded her own publication, N.O.sotros Magazine, a full color, glossy, bilingual publication, focused on and dedicated to her Hispanic culture, in particular the second generation Latinos- professionals, business owners, and entrepreneurs changing the landscape of the New Orleans area. This publication ran for 8 successful years and received national and international recognition. After Katrina, Cochran wanted to dedicate her time and energy to the rebuilding of the city through education and art. This is how she began her career at the International School of Louisiana, one of New Orleans most unique organizations. ISL employs over 200 employees, represented by its staff are 28 different countries, and 16 different languages spoken, working together to teach Spanish and French immersion to New Orleans native students.
