HARVEY, La. — From Jefferson Parish Schools:
Jefferson Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. James Gray has opened applications for six Superintendent’s Councils involving parents, students, teachers, principals, special education and English language learners. In their sixth year, the councils provide stakeholders with a seat at the table to inform and improve decision-making.
This is the inaugural year for the English Language Learners (ELL) Council. The goal of the ELL Council is to discuss and provide meaningful feedback to the Superintendent regarding ELL education policies, procedures, and resources. Additionally, this council will be tasked with increasing the level of support and collaboration through engagement and education to the community at large as it relates to English Language Learners in Jefferson Parish Schools.
The application window for all six Superintendent’s Councils are open through Friday, Sept. 8.
“Continuous two-way communication with our stakeholders is a priority for our district,“ said Gray. “Participating in groups like the superintendent councils is one of many ways that stakeholders can engage with the district in a meaningful way. This helps build strong schools and increase community engagement by putting our stakeholders at the center of our decisions impacting students.”
