Q: Tell us about your business.
Here at Corey’s Salon we are a full service salon and boutique. We offer all hair color services, extensions, facials, makeup, eyelash extensions, spray tans, waxing and nail services. The Corey’s promise is to provide individual attention and great value for all of our customers.
Q: When did you launch?
I have owned Corey’s for 5 years and it has been in business for 35 years.
Q: How were you inspired to start your business?
I had a great mentor who inspired me to follow my dreams. I always wanted to own my own salon and my mentor helped me have the courage to pursue that dream.
Q: What were the biggest obstacles and how were they overcome?
Being a new business owner there is always trial and error. Our biggest obstacle is finding out how to reinvigorate the salon and bring in new clients. We have a great team who is constantly find new ways to incorporate new trends and ideas to keep us in the forefront of our industry.
Q: What local resources have you used?
We try to use local businesses as much as possible including buying from water and coffee to salon products and of course our GREAT local bank.
Q: What is your big focus right now?
Customers. We strive to make the customer experience as wonderful as possible. We are a neighborhood salon where we hope our clients come in and feel as though they are part of our family.
Q: What is the best advice you ever received?
The best advice I ever received was that I could do anything. That advice and some help and encouragement from those around me motivated me to become a business owner.
Q: What success have you had in the last year?
In the last year we have added some wonderful new talented employees and have seen a new influx in business.
