What’s happening now:
• Supporting the local workforce: In addition to being one of the region’s largest employers, Ochsner supports local workforce development and economic vitality through partnerships with organizations like the Dr. John Ochsner Discovery School and STEM education programs.
• A major step forward in neuroscience care: The new Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick Neuroscience Institute is expected to open in fall 2026, creating a dedicated space for expert, coordinated care in neurology, neurosurgery, behavioral health and related specialties.
• A transformational future for pediatric care: Construction on The Gayle and Tom Benson Ochsner Children’s Hospital on OMC’s campus is well underway, and it is expected to open in 2028. This project will expand access to leading pediatric care for families across our region.
• A trusted healthcare leader: For the 14th consecutive year, OMC earned a place on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list and was named the Best Hospital in Louisiana and the No. 1 hospital in the New Orleans metro area for 2025-2026.
• Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center integration: Through this collaboration, world-renowned cancer care is delivered close to home, while also drawing referrals to OMC from across the Gulf South.
• Nationally recognized specialty care: OMC ranks in the top 10% nationally in gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology & lung surgery, and urology.
