Jefferson Parish has grown to become a healthcare hub, with Ochsner Health’s flagship hospital located in the heart of Old Jefferson. While the Ochsner name is widely known across the region, many may not realize that it’s home to one of the nation’s top pediatric cardiology programs.
U.S. News & World Report has just released its 2021-2022 children’s hospital rankings and Ochsner Hospital for Children received top honors in Louisiana. In addition to being named the number one hospital in Louisiana, Ochsner’s pediatric cardiology & heart surgery once again was nationally ranked.
“From schools closing to social distancing, we recognize a lot has changed for kids (and adults too) over the past year,” says Dr. William Lennarz, MD, System Chair of Pediatrics, Ochsner Hospital for Children. “What remains the same, however, is Ochsner Hospital for Children’s unwavering commitment to providing high quality care to kids across the state of Louisiana. We are proud of our team’s commitment to always putting patients first and making Ochsner Hospital for Children a destination for pediatric care in our region.”
Over the past year, Ochsner Hospital for Children has been at the forefront of the COVID-19 response, serving as a key resource for the Louisiana Department of Education as well as more than 160 schools across the state as they navigated reopening safely. Additionally, Ochsner Hospital for Children continues to play a vital role in COVID-19 research. It is one of two locations in Louisiana to participate in the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials for adolescents, which recently began enrolling children volunteers ages 5 – 11, with the goal of enrolling children as young as six months old in the near future.
While no parent wants their child to need hospital care, it’s comforting to know the worlds’ best care is here in Jefferson Parish.
