METAIRIE, LA (AP) — The Jefferson Parish Council has voted to impose a one-week suspension on liquor licenses at more than 60 businesses caught selling alcohol to minors in an undercover sting carried out by the sheriff's office.
Local media outlets report among the popular local eateries caught flouting the rules were Zea Rotisserie and Brewery at the Clearview Mall, R&O's in Bucktown, Taqueria Corona and Bear's Po-Boys at Gennaro's on Metairie Road.
Some big national chains got caught as well, including Applebee's, Chili's, Hooters, Rite Aid and CVS stores.
Parish officials said most will serve their suspensions beginning Monday, though a handful successfully requested that the date be pushed back to accommodate particular circumstances.
The parish will require the establishments to post notices explaining why their liquor sales license is temporarily suspended.
