METAIRIE, LA – The Jefferson Chamber of Commerce has been awarded the 2015 Chamber of the Year Award by the Louisiana Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (LACCE) in the Large Chamber Category.
Jefferson Chamber President, Todd Murphy, accepted the award on Friday, August 21, 2015, at LACCE’s fall conference, hosted by the West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce, in Sulphur, LA.
The Jefferson Chamber was honored for its outstanding achievements by a Chamber of Commerce in the Large Chamber division, encompassing chambers with budgeted dues revenue exceeding $200,000 per year.
The LACCE has 47 Louisiana Chamber members of which 12 are considered Large Chambers.
The LACCE Leadership Awards program recognizes chamber professionals, who have distinguished themselves and their community through excellence in chamber management. To be considered, a chamber must display growth and progress in three areas vital to an organization’s success: community, organizational and professional development.
The Jefferson Chamber was noted for its strength of voice in policy-making, commitment to businesses in Jefferson, impact of regional partnerships, beautification efforts, community development projects and its impressive array of business networking opportunities for members.
“Led by 2015 Chairman, Todd Matherne, CEO of Renaissance Publishing, our passionate volunteers and dedicated staff raised the bar in both community development and legislative advocacy,” Jefferson Chamber President Todd Murphy said. “Some of the year’s accomplishments include developing the landscape and fountains beautification project on Veterans Memorial Blvd.; advocating for pro-business and education reform legislation; launching the Prosper Jefferson business seminar series, in partnership with the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission and hosting the most attended and highest grossing event in the history of the Chamber.”
A panel of independent judges, comprised of current and former chamber executives from across the country, reviewed the Louisiana chambers and determined which were considered the best in three size categories.
The LACCE is a membership-driven, non-profit organization formed in order to bring together the executives of the Chambers of Commerce throughout the state. The organization serves as a catalyst to network and educate the executives and the staffs within the statewide chamber areas.
The Jefferson Chamber is a leading voice for Jefferson Parish’s business community. As a nonprofit, membership-driven organization, the Jefferson Chamber is an effective advocate for small and large businesses at the local, state and federal levels. The Jefferson Chamber’s mission is to work for the advancement of the business community; to enhance the economic, civic and cultural environment and to improve the quality of life in Jefferson Parish.
The Jefferson Chamber is Four-Star Accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Jefferson Chamber of Commerce – August 26, 2015
Congratulations and double kudos to the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce on being named Louisiana “Chamber of the Year,” an accomplishment to be praised for attaining once, but twice in three years is truly distinctive. A panel of out-of-state Chamber professionals is commissioned yearly to distinguish meritorious areas of accomplishment by Chambers in the State, and the Jefferson Chamber was lauded for its outstanding member services in education, professional development, advocacy, community development, and quality of life issues. Its hands-on involvement in policy and government affairs on Parish, State and National levels was judged exemplary.
Todd Murphy, his staff, the board, and membership comprise the “village” necessary to maintain this level of performance and to not be complacent with existing accomplishments. As the first JC Chairman almost 20 years ago, I can say that we were blessed with conscientious, focused leaders who were determined to make a difference in our community. This group first started by saving Area Code 504 for our community, and has left a legacy of accomplishment since that time. The Jefferson Chamber continues today as a visible tour-de-force, advancing our Parish and our Region.
These earned skills deserve our praise!
Sincerely,
Lee Giorgio
