AVONDALE, La. – The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO)and the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce announce the 2018 Prosper Jefferson lineup. The organizations created the monthly seminar series in 2015 to educate, inspire, and assist small business owners in Jefferson Parish.
The first seminar of 2018 will cover workplace sensitivity.
Navigating Workplace Sensitivity

A panel of experts will cover relevant information about how to discuss and tackle difficult and sensitive topics, such as sexual harassment or discrimination within the workplace.
Panelists include: Stefanie J. Allweiss, J.D., Gotcha Covered HR, Johnny Domiano, Jr., Adams & Reese and Erin Thompson, Peoples Health. The event will be moderated by Ronnie Slone, The Slone Group.
Stefanie Allweiss co-founded Gotcha Covered HR, a New Orleans-based, women-owned firm, in 2012, for the express purpose of helping local companies and their employees thrive. Stefanie graduated cum laude from Tulane University School of Law in 1980. She practiced labor and employment law for 25 years in New Orleans, as a partner with McCalla, Thompson, then with Fisher & Phillips (1980-2005). She litigated employment-related matters and conducted independent investigations of discrimination and harassment complaints. Stefanie served as executive director of employee relations and equity for Tulane University (2005-08) and sat on the panel of mediators/arbitrators for ADR Inc. (2008-2015) where she mediated employment law cases. Stefanie was trained as a "coach" to Louisiana charter school boards and assisted on governance issues (2008-2012).
Johnny Domiano serves as the partner in charge of the New Orleans office of the law firm of Adams and Reese. Throughout his more than 20 years of practice, he has developed extensive experience in many areas of the law, including commercial litigation, D&O liability, energy and maritime, product liability, securities litigation, franchise and shareholder disputes, and general casualty. Johnny assists clients in the development of risk management programs, the analysis of insurance programs and business interruption coverage, and the improvement of internal procedures including but not limited to those involving the reporting and handling of employee discipline, discrimination and harassment. He is experienced in the drafting, negotiation and litigation of master service agreements, operating agreements, maritime and commercial contracts.
Erin Thompson works the assistant director of human resources at Peoples Health in Metairie. In this role, she oversees employee relations, recruiting, benefits administration, payroll, performance management, training & development, and all other functions of human resources management. Prior to joining Peoples Health, Erin worked at Ochsner Health System as a Senior Consultant in the Ochsner Leadership Institute. In this role, Erin was responsible for analyzing overall learning and development requirements, design, and delivery of leadership and organizational development activities. Prior to joining Ochsner, Erin worked in Training and Development and Human Resources for the University of New Orleans, and as the Human Resources Coordinator for Hotard Coaches and Calco Travel.
Ronnie Slone is the founder and president of The Slone Group, a consulting firm that specializes in organizational development and training for growing companies and organizations. He has over 30 years of experience in operations management, human resources, training, and professional staffing. In addition to leading his growing consulting firm, Ronnie is a faculty member of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program at Delgado Community College and the national cohorts at Babson College. He is also the facilitator of Leadership Jefferson, a program of the Jefferson Chamber Foundation that puts business leaders through nine monthly sessions exploring topics such as quality of life, healthcare, economic development, education, diversity, law enforcement/governance, and community. Ronnie also served as the Interim Director of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.
