FAIRFIELD, LA – Hurricane Katrina shook the foundation of the Jefferson Parish community, but it did not break it. Instead, Jefferson Parish residents, companies and organizations exhibited strength in the face of disaster. The community collaborated and everyone worked together.
The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) has created and released an infographic highlighting its successes ten years post-Katrina, showing Jefferson Parish is stronger than ever.
JEDCO reps said progress made throughout the Parish can be seen in:
• The expansion of the Huey P. Long Bridge, which gives East and West Bank residents quick and easy access to the other side of the Mississippi River.
• The decisions made by many large companies, like the Smoothie King international headquarters or Dyno Nobel, to locate their businesses in Jefferson Parish.
• The new artwork lining major corridors and in the updated levee systems lining Jefferson Parish.
After Hurricane Katrina, JEDCO managed business recovery efforts, worked with thousands of businesses to overcome the storm and has worked to restore business in Jefferson Parish and make the local economy stronger and more successful.
