Jeanerette Company Has Navy Contract Worth $15M To $47M

JEANERETTE (AP) — A Jeanerette company has a $15.3 million Navy contract to build rigid-hull inflatable boats for foreign military sales, with options that could bring the total to $47.4 million.

A Pentagon statement says Metal Shark Aluminum Boats is providing 7-meter boats that can be rapidly adapted to a wide range of uses. They would operate from shore or with support from other vessels, but are not meant to be launched or recovered by vessels at sea.

The company was one of three that submitted bids to the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington.
