Jazz Fest Releases Schedule Cubes

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has released its much-anticipated cubes — the easy-to-read schedule that contains performance times and stages for the event's seven days.

         Jazz Fest runs April 24-26 and April 30-May 3 at the Fair Grounds Race Course.

         The New Orleans Advocate reports the cubes were unveiled Tuesday during the festival's traditional "month-out" press party.

         This year's top draws include Ed Sheeran, the British pop star who recently scored a No. 2 song with his multiplatinum hit "Thinking Out Loud." He performs Saturday, May 2, on the Gentilly Stage. Rapper T.I. also performs Saturday, on the Congo Square Stage.

         The cross-generational duo of Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett will perform Saturday, April 25, also on the Gentilly Stage and Elton John appears Saturday, May 2, on the Acura Stage.

         Jerry Lee Lewis, the 79-year-old rock 'n' roll pioneer from Ferriday who inspired '60s rock stars, performs Saturday, May 2.

         No Doubt, featuring frontwoman and "The Voice" coach and judge Gwen Stefani, performs Friday, May 1 while John Legend performs Saturday, April 25.

         Sunday, May 3, will be a great day for New Orleans music fans. New Orleans' classic funk band The Meters will play a reunion show on the Acura Stage. The Gentilly Stage lineup includes a reunion by The Radiators and appearances by Deacon John and Dr. John.

         Festival officials also presented the 2015 Jazz Fest poster Tuesday, featuring the late Big Chief Bo Dollis, the Mardi Gras Indians chief who died Jan. 20 at 71. Local artist Randy "Frenchy" Frechette created the vibrant portrait of a smiling Dollis in radiantly full costume. Dollis and the Wild Magnolias Indians tribe he led pioneered the melding of Mardi Indians chant with New Orleans funk and rhythm-and-blues.

         Advanced single-day tickets for Jazz Fest are $58. The gate price will be $70. Children's tickets (ages 2-10) are $5, available at the gate only. Single-day tickets to Jazz Fest are on sale by specific weekend and valid for single-day attendance.
