James Carville To Address UNO's Fall Grads

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Political commentator James Carville will serve as the principal speaker at the University of New Orleans' fall 2014 commencement next month.

         The university said Monday it was honored that Carville agreed to deliver a speech for the Dec. 18 ceremony at Lakefront Arena.

         NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune’s Jed Lipinski reports UNO President Peter J. Fos says Carville's appearance will be a "real treat for our graduates."

         Carville was the head strategist for President Bill Clinton's successful 1992 Democratic campaign. A professor of political science at Tulane University, he has lived in New Orleans since 2008 with his wife Mary Matalin, a well-known Republican strategist.

         The two have co-authored two national bestselling books, most recently "Love & War: Twenty Years, Three Presidents, Two Daughters, and One Louisiana."
