BATON ROUGE – Diversity specialist Jacob Evans of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has graduated from the 2019 Bryan Bell Metropolitan Leadership Forum (BBMLF).
A program of the Committee for a Better New Orleans, since 1968 the BBMLF has identified emerging community leaders like Evans and stimulated their interest and involvement in community service.
The forum brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds to hold discussions among themselves and with experts, then participate in a community service project in areas including housing, education, public safety and healthcare.
“I chose housing, with a specific focus on the homeless crisis,” Evans said. “It has been a humbling experience to participate in the Covenant House New Orleans youth professional mentorship program and annual sleepout event.”
Since its inception, the BBMLF has graduated nearly 2,500 individuals, among them elected officials and education and business leaders. Another Blue Cross alumnus is Director of Diversity Programs and Business Development Rod Teamer, whom Evans credits for giving him the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight into the serious problems of Louisiana’s communities as well as potential solutions to those problems.
