NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC will re-open the intersection of Bienville Street at Bourbon Street on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. The intersection was previously closed as construction crews installed new underground utilities and repaved the intersection as part of the French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project.
Bourbon Street at Conti Street Closure on Friday and Saturday
On Friday, Dec. 15 and Saturday, Dec. 16, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Hard Rock Construction, LLC will be placing new concrete pavement in the 400 block of Bourbon Street. Due to concrete placing, there will be intermittent closures of through traffic on Bourbon Street at the intersection of Conti Street from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days.
Bourbon Street at St. Louis Street Closure Beginning Monday
On Monday, Dec. 18, beginning at 6 a.m., crews will close the intersection of Bourbon Street at St. Louis Street to through traffic to install new underground utilities in the intersection. The closure is expected to last about one week. Flaggers will be available at the intersections of Dauphine Street at St. Louis Street, and Royal Street at St. Louis Street to facilitate deliveries and access to parking garages throughout the closure.
Public safety is our top priority; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near this construction site. Signage and traffic control measures such as barrels and fencing are onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians.
The multi-million dollar French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project calls for removing and replacing existing water and drainage lines, repairing the sewer line, repaving the roadway in concrete, installing new sidewalks when necessary and installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
