In Exile Since Katrina, Torah Academy Back At W. Esplanade Location

METAIRIE, LA – After operating as an ark – a school in exile – since Hurricane Katrina, Torah Academy is now back at home at their original 5210 W. Esplanade Ave. location in Metairie, LA.

         The school’s new 16,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility offers the latest in security and technology with internet access and SmartBoard presentation capabilities in each classroom, and is energy and ergonomically efficient.

         Torah Academy has hired Naomi Smith as the new Early Childhood Director who will oversee the preschool program, and hired Rory Rafferty as the school’s Academic Director.

         The 23-year-old school school will also continue its Judaic and Hebrew language programs.

         The Board of Trustees said Torah Academy’s mission is to provide every Jewish child with an “excellent and affordable education.” Tuition is $6,000 a year per student, and additional costs are financed by contributions.
