NEW ORLEANS – Kick off the charitable season on #GivingTuesday, Nov. 28, with #iGiveCatholic – an online crowdfunding event that brings the Catholic community together to give thanks and give back.
The Archdiocese of New Orleans is one of 17 participating archdioceses and dioceses for #iGiveCatholic. Considered the most successful Catholic crowdfunding event to date, the third annual #iGiveCatholic will be held on #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
“This is an exciting opportunity for everyone in the Greater New Orleans area to celebrate Catholic philanthropy,” said Josephine Everly, president of #iGiveCatholic and COO and director of gift planning for The Catholic Foundation Archdiocese of New Orleans. “We truly believe that every donation, no matter how large or small, makes a difference in our community and we look forward to collectively raising millions for our participating parishes, schools, and ministries.”
The inaugural #iGiveCatholic shattered all expectations, raising $1.36 million in just 24 hours and transforming online giving for parishes, schools, and ministries, organizers said. With the addition of five partner dioceses, last year’s giving day donations totaled more than $1.8 million in gifts for more than 300 ministries. This year, the overall goal is to raise $3.5 million for more than 500 participating organizations representing the 17 participating archdioceses and dioceses.
New this year, each archdiocese and diocese will have its own personalized landing page and leaderboard, affording parishioners, alumni and supporters the opportunity to track the participating organizations in their community with greater ease. With this year’s growth to 17 participating archdioceses and dioceses, collaboration with the International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC) has brought the campaign nationwide.
Deadline for organizations to register to participate in #iGiveCatholic is Tuesday, Oct. 31.
