MONROE, LA (AP) — IBM will create 400 new jobs in Monroe during the next 10 years, the company announced Monday in Monroe.
Gov. Bobby Jindal tells The News-Star’s Greg Hilburn $4.5 million will be provided to the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Louisiana Tech University and Grambling State University for more computer science programs to meet workforce needs.
IBM's service center will be built on U.S. Highway 165 North. It will service CenturyLink and other customers.
IBM says in a press release that about 350 CenturyLink technology employees will transition to become full-time IBM employees in various locations.
CenturyLink is adding 850 jobs in Monroe. It will open a 300,000-plus square-foot addition to its headquarters this spring.
IBM will work with the Louisiana Economic Development FastStart program on recruiting initiatives.
