  • Session 1: Recruiting, Hiring, & Onboarding the Right People

Wednesday, April 4 – 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Building the right team is something that ideally takes up a large percentage of the time a leader spends on his/her organization; however, leaders are often short on time, resources, and the ability to take critical time to make the best hire for a position. When an organization on-boards an individual who doesn’t fit the culture, the work, or both – it becomes a warm body issue. A “warm body” is an employee who is physically there but who is not engaged. That employee either doesn't get it, doesn't want it, or can't do it (or a combination of those three). For every ‘warm body’ hire, time, money, and energy is lost for the company. Close that leaky valve and get the talent you need!

During this session, entrepreneurs will:

  • Session 2: Influencing, Developing, & Retaining Your Employees

Wednesday, April 11 – 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Turnover is costly. According to Right Management, a talent and career management consulting firm, it costs nearly three times an employee’s salary to replace someone, which includes recruitment, severance, lost productivity, and lost opportunities. Keeping employees growing is a sure-fire way to keep them in the organization longer.

  • Session 3: Performance Management & Termination

Friday, April 20 – 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Realistically, termination should not be a surprise to an employee who has not performed and it has been properly documented. But, how does a leader have those difficult milestone conversations about performance? Setting up an effective performance management system can have significant benefits for a business, leading to happier, more motivated and better performing employees. And on the flip side, less stressed leaders because the process works itself.

During this session, entrepreneurs will:

  1. Understand what the purpose of a performance management (PM) system is
  2. Assess the role of human resources in the management of a PM system
  3. Review the components of a PM system
  4. Connect employee development to the organization’s PM system
  5. Review how to set/draft performance standards
  6. Learn proper documentation of employee performance
  7. Understand the proper steps to terminate an employee that isn’t working out
  8. At the end of this session, businesses will be able to describe termination and resignation procedures, and create a Performance Management (PM) system framework.
