Hospice Foundation Of The South Announces Inaugural Beer Tasting, Poker Run

SLIDELL, LA – Hospice Foundation of the South will celebrate SeptemBeer Fest on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Lakeshore Marina & Yacht Harbor in Slidell, LA, to help raise money to fund the Hospice House, a home dedicated to providing terminally ill patients a place to stay during their final days.

         The event will feature a poker run, live music and a beer garden featuring micro brews from the Gulf Coast region.

         Registration for the Poker Run begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Lakeshore Marina & Yacht Harbor with an official start time at 11:00 a.m.

         The Beer Garden and concert event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with musical performances by Band of Brothers and Rock Kandy.

         Sponsors for the event include Lakeshore Marina & Yacht Harbor, Whitney Bank, Champagne Beverage, Crew of Dionysus, and other.

         Bobby Torres, owner of Lakeshore Marina & Yacht Harbor, has donated the use of the entire facility for the fundraising event.

         Located just off the Twin Spans at the first exit in Slidell, Lakeshore Marina & Yacht Harbor is a full service marina on the northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. The facility offers both dry boat storage and wet slips featuring the latest equipment and technology, with 24-hour launch access for boat owners at the marina.

         The Hospice House is a home designed to give terminally ill patients, who are in a preferred hospice program with the Hospice Foundation, a place to stay during their final days at no cost. The home is owned and operated by the Hospice Foundation of the South, a nonprofit 501(c)(3).      Caregivers are in the home with residents 24 hours a day. The preferred hospice programs recommend people who, because of circumstances in their lives, need a place to live while dying. Family members are encouraged to visit with their loved ones.

         The home has 3 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and screened in porch area. There is also a central living room, kitchen and dining room so residents and family members have a place to congregate, dine or spend a special occasion together.
