Easter Brunch devotees have a lot to celebrate Sunday, March 27, 2016. Not only will there be eggs aplenty and champagne flowing at many restaurants around the city, but the celebrated Maison Dupuy’s three-course Sunday Champagne Jazz Brunch is returning for the first time since Hurricane Katrina, and it’s here to stay.
“I’m a huge fan of Sunday Brunch,” Chef Scott Majure said. “When I came to The Maison Dupuy as executive chef in early 2015, one of my personal priorities was to bring back a traditional Sunday Brunch menu of Classic Southern cuisine with an emphasis on Creole and local favorites. I really believe in respecting tradition and all the incredible chefs who have come before me and have put New Orleans on the culinary map. I have been fortunate to study and train with some of the best. My Sunday Brunch is a big nod to them and the bounty of fresh, local ingredients that are available to us year-round. I stay true to their creations but also bring my own interpretation of traditional dishes that range from the simple to the sublime.”
Chef Majure plans to serve up many Creole creations and American delicacies on Easter Sunday, and every Sunday, including Louisiana Seafood Gumbo, with local shrimp and crab, Eggs Maison Dupuy, seared chorizo sausage, spinach Madeleine, poached eggs and smoked paprika hollandaise on buttermilk biscuits, Grits & Grillades, panneéd veal cutlet braised in thick gravy with creole cream cheese grits and Stuffed Pain Perdue, stuffed with Ponchatoula strawberries, cream cheese and strawberry preserves.
“Easter is all about new beginnings and resurrection,” Chef Majure said. “Easter sort of kicks off the Spring season officially, and it’s very much a very special family time for gathering and celebrating second only to Christmas, I think. So we want our Easter Brunch to live up to the importance of the day but be really fun and, of course, delicious. I’ve chosen to create items that are reflective of favorites from the past, and some new ones to appeal to all appetites. With our Easter Brunch, we know we’re creating memories here.”
“We didn’t realize how much people missed our Sunday Brunch,” Steve Ferran, The Maison Dupuy’s general manager, said. “We are thrilled to offer the Brunch again to our loyal locals, our hotel guests and visitors to the city. They are in for a memorable dining experience.”
Ferran is banking on his clientele to rediscover the beloved Sunday Brunch tradition at The Maison Dupuy, where diners can choose to enjoy their Slow Roast Prime Rib au jus, with local spring vegetables and fingerling potatoes, Pan Seared Redfish, with a sauté of crawfish, sweet corn, peas, cherry tomatoes and Brabant potatoes and Café au lait Crème Brûlée in both the Bistreaux Restaurant, decorated with Toulouse Lautrec’s Parisian themed murals and floor to ceiling windows with views of the French Quarter, and the iconic Courtyard.
“The renovation of the Courtyard which was completed in September, 2015, was quite extensive and included all new stone work, new landscaping, new pool amenities, designer furnishings and more comfortable seating for dining.” Ferran said. “The Courtyard is truly unsurpassed for its French Quarter setting. The remarkable creations of Chef Scott Majure, service, bottomless Bloody Marys and Mimosas, plus ever-changing entertainment from New Orleans musicians and complimentary parking make our Sunday Brunch so appealing to couples for romantic dining aux deux, friends celebrating birthdays and milestones as well as multi-generational family gatherings. It’s our hope they will create new traditions for the next generations. We know Sundays don’t get any better than this!”
With the first adult beverage purchase, guests can order additional complimentary eye openers from the Bloody Mary bar, bottomless Mimosas and champagne at The Maison Dupuy Sunday Champagne Jazz Brunch.
To complete the mood on Easter Sunday, Kid Merv & All That Jazz, a five-piece band playing a range of jazz from Louis Armstrong to Miles Davis, with a touch of pop and some swing, will entertain all during Brunch service from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The Sunday Champagne Jazz Brunch costs $48 per person excluding tax, gratuity and alcohol, and includes the three course Brunch, complimentary parking, live entertainment and additional beverages with first beverage purchase.
“We planned all along to re-introduce this favorite Sunday tradition that locals and hotel guests had experienced and loved for years once the restoration was completed,” Ferran said. “And we wanted it to be all that people remembered. We feel we have recaptured that classic, elegant yet easygoing style that embodies what Sunday dining is all about.”
The Maison Dupuy is also offering an “Egg-ceptional Easter Egg-stravaganza Room Package,” starting at $143, which could prove convenient if you plan to eat too much at Brunch.
The Easter Weekend Package includes deluxe accommodations for one or two nights at one of the hotel’s 187 distinctive rooms and 13 luxurious suites, reduced parking, $10 off per night, a special Easter chocolate “Welcome” amenity and a 10% discount per person for the Easter Sunday Champagne Jazz Brunch.
