Hercules Offshore Announces Layoffs

HOUMA, LA (AP) — Hercules Offshore says it will lay off Gulf of Mexico offshore employees including some in Port Fourchon later this year amid low oil prices that haven't shown any signs of increasing.

The Courier’s Jacob Batte reports the Houston-based company, with an office in Houma, filed a Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification in Louisiana on Sept. 22.

The company says about 50 employees based out of the company's docks in Fourchon and Cameron will eliminated on or around Nov. 21.
