Help Plan The Future Of Bucktown Harbor At Public Meeting

METAIRIE – What's next for Bucktown Harbor?

That's the question Jefferson Parish, design consultants and area residents wish to answer together in a shared community vision planning process.

Jefferson Parish Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken invites community residents to take part in an upcoming public open house to create a shared vision plan for Bucktown Harbor.

The a public input session will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Metairie’s Lakeshore Playground Meeting Room at 1125 Rosa Avenue (near the playground gym, just off W. Esplanade and Oaklawn Avenues).

Bucktown has a rich history of activity along Lake Pontchartrain, from commercial fishing camps and bawdy speakeasies to residential living and waterfront dining at Sid-Mars to its current incarnation today as a center for boating and open space activity.

The open house is an opportunity for the public to express the types of uses and activities they would like to enjoy along the lake. Feedback will help to develop next-step planning concepts.
