NEW ORLEANS – Project Lazarus announced the hire of Maru Helmcke as the agency's new Executive Director. Helmcke will assume her position on September 1, 2015.
Helmcke comes to the agency with extensive experience serving the HIV/AIDS community in New Orleans including positions as Quality Manager Consultant at Priority Healthcare and the HIV Medical Case Manager for the Hispanic Community at Children's Hospital. Most recently, she worked for Catholic Charities with the Haitian refugee program in New Orleans.
"We are very excited to welcome Ms. Helmcke to Project Lazarus and believe that her experience and passion will be an invaluable asset to the agency," said Laura Fine, Project Lazarus Board Chair.
Helmcke was preceded by Steve Rivera, acting as Interim Executive Director since the departure of former Executive Director Kim Moss in December 2014.
