Healthy Start New Orleans Hosts Documentary Screening, Panel Discussion On Child Health Outcomes

NEW ORLEANS— Today, Healthy Start New Orleans, a program of the New Orleans Health Department, partnered with WYES-TV and Delgado Community College to host a screening of “The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of our Nation,” and a panel discussion that addressed the value of investing in child health and well-being in the city of New Orleans.

         The event took place at the Lac Pontchartrain Room, Student Life Center (Building 23), 2nd floor at Delgado Community College, 615 City Park Ave.

         There was a 9:45 a.m. documentary screening and a panel discussion that lasted until noon.

         Scheduled to attend were Charlotte Parent, Director of Health for the City of New Orleans, Karen Carter-Peterson, State Senator for Louisiana’s 5th District, Dr. Corey Hebert (Moderator), Pediatrician and CEO of Community Health TV, Thelma French, President and CEO of Total Community Action and Patricia Hightower, President and CEO of Bayou Equity Mortgage.

         Healthy Start New Orleans, a program of the New Orleans Health Department, provides services to residents of Orleans Parish who are pregnant or parenting children under the age of two. Healthy Start promotes healthy communities by nurturing healthy pregnancies, healthy babies, and healthy families.
