Healthcare Security Gathering April 30-May 2 in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — The Archimedes Center for Healthcare and Device Security is hosting a “healthcare security week” from Tuesday, April 30 to Thursday, May 2 at the Hilton New Orleans/St. Charles Avenue. The event is focused on cybersecurity in medical devices and healthcare.

This gathering of approximately 100 leading thinkers and topic influencers from across the US, Europe and Asia will include representatives from medical device manufacturers, healthcare providers, regulators, researchers and service providers.

The week includes a “jazz funeral” for Microsoft ending technical support for the Windows 10 operating system.

“Windows 10 is used extensively in healthcare, and Microsoft ending technical support represents additional cyber risk to those devices and systems,” said Archimedes Managing Director Bill Aerts. “We wanted to give it a sendoff and highlight that it’s being put to rest.”

The topic will be covered in greater detail throughout the week. The traditional funeral procession will occur on Wednesday, May 1, when attendees will march from the Hilton New Orleans/St. Charles Avenue to the Court of Two Sisters.

Archimedes was founded by Dr. Kevin Fu, who will attend the weeklong event.
