GULFPORT, MS (AP) — Gulf Ship LLC has expanded its operation in Gulfport, completing the purchase of the old Future Pipe Industries site in the Bernard Bayou Industrial District.
The company announced the sale Tuesday morning.
The Sun Herald reports the 53.2-acre property more than doubles the footprint of Gulf Ship, which opened in 2006. The company specializes in offshore vessels that support private industry and government.
The Harrison County Development Commission worked with Gulf Ship for more than a year to bring the sale to a close. The acquisition of the property allows Gulf Ship to expand and increase its 600-person workforce by 100 skilled workers.
Gulf Ship is an affiliate of Louisiana-based Edison Chouest Offshore.
