Grow St. Bernard Spring Enrollment Opens for Growing and Emerging Businesses

CHALMETTE – The St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF) and The St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce have released information about “Grow St. Bernard,” a joint program supporting St. Bernard Parish’s increasing base of locally owned businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs.

The 2018 six-part series includes 90-minute presentations and panel discussions about licensing, tax and legal, marketing, permitting, business planning, and sales. Notable guest speakers and business leaders will provide valuable knowledge of current trends, local/regional insights, and best practices for operating a business. Participation is open to all professionals regardless of location or occupation.

Grow St. Bernard provides information to professionals about how to start and grow a business in the current market.  “Grow St. Bernard is geared towards pre-revenue, new, and growing businesses looking for insight into owning and operating an enterprise with a long-term mindset,” explains Andrew Jacques, SBEDF executive director.  “The program dives into specific aspects of business operations, along with a focus on the practical skills necessary to succeed.”

Grow St. Bernard builds upon the success of the previous year by welcoming a new spring cohort. Beginning on April 3, the program encourages business owners and professionals to turn information into action; and participants benefit from learning and sharing with a cohort of small businesses.

Cathy Juarez Alfonso, CEO of the St. Bernard Chamber, believes the program offers access to vital business topics while connecting professionals to business resources and each other.  “When integrating into your local business community, you can’t put a price tag on the importance of networking and connecting with other local businesses and individuals. We believe that Grow St. Bernard can foster those relationships," said Alfonso.
