Group Recommends Closures, Changes To UNO Programs

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A working group at the University of New Orleans has recommended closing three programs and transforming 25 as part of an effort to revitalize the institution.

The report was submitted Tuesday morning to faculty and staff at the university, which has seen declining enrollment over the years.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune’s Jed Lipinski reports the group is made up of 30 UNO deans and faculty members. Among its recommendations is the closure of Bachelor of Science programs in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education and Mild-to-Moderate Disabilities; also, a Ph.D. program in Political Science.
