Gov.-Elect Edwards Addresses New Orleans Chamber Of Commerce

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Business leaders in New Orleans are hearing from the state's next governor this afternoon at the Hyatt Regency, 601 Loyola Ave.

Gov.-elect John Bel Edwards, who takes office next month, was scheduled for a Friday midday speech, at 12:00 p.m., during the annual meeting of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce.

Edwards, a Democrat, defeated Republican Sen. David Vitter in the race to succeed term-limited Bobby Jindal. His Friday speech comes as he assembles a cabinet and staff — and as he prepares for a special session early next year to deal with mounting state budget problems.
