GNO, Inc., President & CEO Michael Hecht to Serve as Commencement Speaker at University of Holy Cross 2019 Graduation

NEW ORLEANS – Greater New Orleans, Inc., President & CEO Michael Hecht has been selected by University of Holy Cross to deliver its commencement speech at the university’s upcoming graduation ceremony. The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at Lakefront Arena. Details were shared in a press release.

Hecht is President & CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc., the economic development agency for southeast Louisiana. GNO, Inc.'s mission is to create a region “where our kids can stay and prosper.” Under Hecht’s leadership, GNO, Inc. was recently named a “Top Economic Development Organization in the United States” (one of 11 of 2,300) by Site Selection magazine.

Hecht has been recognized as “One of the Ten People Who Made a Difference in the South,” “One of the 20 Business “Icons” of the Tricentennial,” and “One of the Top 50 Economic Developers in North America.”

“Michael Hecht is a national thought leader in economic development and we’re very excited to have him give our 2019 commencement speech,” said UHC President Dr. David “Buck” Landry. “We’re confident his message will leave our graduates motivated and ready to take on any challenge as they move forward in life.”

The class of 2019 will be the last group of graduates Dr. Landry will preside over as he plans to retire on June 30 of this year. A full list of graduates and information about valedictorian and salutatorian will be released prior to the commencement.
