NEW ORLEANS – Greater New Orleans, Inc. has been named one of "America’s Leading EDCs (Economic Development Corporations)" in an inaugural feature by Global Trade magazine.
GNO, Inc. is one of 18 organizations highlighted from around the country that Global Trade has singled out for "using creative and effective means for attracting business.”
Specific to GNO, Inc., the magazine writes that “Since 2008, the economic development organization has been ‘materially involved’ in bringing $12.5B of capital investment and 21,525 jobs to the region.”
The publication also lauded GNO, Inc. for bringing in China-based Shandong Yuhuang’s to build a $1.85B methanol plant in St. James Parish and for getting Chiquita to resume services at the Port of New Orleans after a 40-year hiatus.
