NEW ORLEANS – Greater New Orleans Inc., the region’s economic development nonprofit, says labor market data from Emsi shows the region has surpassed pre-pandemic levels of online job postings. For March 2021, online job postings in the region (49,542) were 9% higher than in February 2020. In addition, greater New Orleans has experienced nine consecutive months of continued growth in online job postings – the longest such streak since data has been tracked (2016).
Emsi’s job posting analytics platform collects data from hundreds of millions of online job postings, providing direct insight into real-time labor market information. Each job posting is considered a “unique jobs posting,” meaning that multiple postings that list the same job, company, and location are counted as a single posting.
The top five industries by job postings in March 2021 were:
- Retail
- Administration and support
- Health care
- Professional, scientific and technical services
- Accommodation and food services
