New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

Giving Back | 2024 Non-Profit

Mission: To responsibly build communities where families can thrive, in homes they can afford.

For more than 40 years, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH), a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 1983, has been at the forefront of local home-building and disaster recovery efforts. By partnering with hard-working, low-income families and enlisting the support of volunteers, donors, and businesses, NOAHH has made significant strides in making homeownership attainable. Almost 800 partner families have realized their dreams of homeownership, while NOAHH has also repaired over 450 homes and provided vital assistance to thousands more through disaster relief and recovery initiatives.

NOAHH’s biggest project yet, Rising Oaks, is a mixed-use development in Terrytown that will offer 150 homes to working families, seniors, and veterans who currently struggle to afford homes. NOAHH’s ReStore sells new and donated goods, fostering affordable home improvements. NOAHH’s Internship and Apprenticeship program provides paid opportunities for local youth, equipping them with skills for future careers through hands-on experience on build sites.
