NEW ORLEANS – Gillis, Ellis & Baker welcomed two new additions to its New Orleans office. James Hou, JD and Stephanie Mattio joined the GEB team in June.
In his role as commercial lines producer and adviser with GEB, Hou focuses on family-owned businesses, large and small. He comes to the firm with five years prior experience with a large national insurance carrier.
Prior to his insurance career, Hou served as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Army, to include a deployment to Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division. He left the Army as a Captain to pursue legal studies at Tulane University.
With a Bachelor's in Education from the University of Missouri and a Juris Doctor from Tulane, Hou takes an educational and consultative approach to addressing his clients’ insurance needs, reps said.
Mattio takes on the role of personal lines account manager, working closely with producers and carriers to provide quality service to, and meet the overall insurance needs of GEB clients, reps said. Before entering the insurance industry 12 years ago, Mattio was a small business owner. She is a proud graduate of the first cohort of the Louisiana Insurance Academy at Delgado Community College.
In her spare time, she volunteers for the New Orleans Chapter of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and for the New Orleans Chapter of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
