NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, the Downtown Development District and the Creative Alliance of New Orleans held the 5th annual Creative Industries Summit featuring the Downtown NOLA Arts-Based Business Pitch as part of New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, presented by IBERIABANK and produced by The Idea Village, at the Contemporary Arts Center, 900 Camp St., Monday, March 20.
Gigsy LLC, that sells enterprise level photo and video service products and facilitates a paid apprenticeship for talented New Orleans youth, was chosen as the winner of the 5th Annual Downtown NOLA Arts-Based Business Pitch.
The DDD, along with other Downtown partners, awarded a prize package of seed capital as well as pro bono legal, accounting, PR and real estate services, and temporary Downtown workspace valued at over $40,000 to the winner.
Sponsors included Postlethwaite & Netterville, Jones Walker, Wisznia, beta, Corporate Realty, Domain Companies and The Shop.
DDD reps commended all the finalists on their compelling presentations and wish them great success.
The other finalists included:
• NOLA DNA – That delivers history on demand by unlocking a unique archive of 1885-1929 newspapers, providing access via locus based media platforms.
• OperaCréole – Dedicated to preserving and performing the operatic works of people of color, especially 19th century New Orleans composers.
• Two Girls One Shuck – A traveling Oyster Bar an catering service providing fresh shucked raw and grilled oysters throughout the city.
• Young Artist Movement – The first citywide youth mural program, engaging youth, artist and communities in sustained public art and place making.
The Pitch event is aimed at identifying and supporting entrepreneurs that have an arts-based project or product that benefits the Downtown Development District, and situated in the creative, architecture, technology, digital media or film/entertainment fields.
