Gibbs Construction CEO Gibbs To Serve As ‘New Orleans City Champion’ On Lemonade Day

NEW ORLEANS – Gibbs Construction CEO Larry Gibbs has been selected to serve as this year's New Orleans City Champion and has worked enthusiastically to help local New Orleans youth register for the seventh annual Lemonade Day Louisiana on Saturday, May 6.

“I hope every parent, grandparent and teacher will encourage their children to participate in Lemonade Day Louisiana on Saturday, May 6,” Gibbs said. “The hands-on experience of researching, building and operating a lemonade stand are the same skills needed to start and run any successful business. This simple entrepreneurial experience will build courage, independence, confidence, good character, resourcefulness, productivity and help to make dreams come true. There simply is no downside to participating in Lemonade Day.”

A New Orleans East native, Gibbs has always had the heart of a entrepreneur. He began working at a young age mowing lawns for his neighbors, shining shoes at Joe's barbershop, and working at one of the largest evening paper routes for the States-Item newspaper. In 1969, Gibbs received his bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University and began to work in the field of construction. On July 4, 1976, Gibbs founded Gibbs Construction and continues to serve as CEO today.
