NEW ORLEANS – Gibbs Construction CEO/New Orleans Lemonade Day City Champion Larry Gibbs and Georges Enterprises CEO/ Lemonade Day Louisiana co-founder John Georges will be joined by elected officials, community leaders, and dozens of youth from the Stallings Gentilly Playground Booster Club, for the Lemonade Day Louisiana Kick-Off Event on Saturday, May 6, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
The event will take place in front of Stallings Playground, 1600 Gentilly Blvd., located one block from the main entrance of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Lemonade stands will be set-up in front of the playground from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has proclaimed Saturday, May 6, as National Lemonade Day in the state of Louisiana. This is the seventh consecutive year that the Governor's office has proclaimed it Lemonade Day in the state.
In addition, Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach, Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome, Lafayette Mayor Joel Robideaux, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Thibodaux Mayor Tommy Eschete, Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler, Monroe Mayor James E. Mayo, and a number of elected officials as well as community and business leaders have issued resolutions, proclamations, and certificates regarding this year's Lemonade Day Louisiana.
More than 25,000 Louisiana youth are expected to participate in the seventh annual Lemonade Day on Saturday where everyone has an important job to do by either buying or selling lemonade.
Lemonade Day Louisiana is a free, community-wide program that fosters entrepreneurship and character development among Louisiana's youth ages 4-12 by supporting them in establishing and operating their lemonade businesses. Young entrepreneurs are advised to spend a little, save a little and share a little by donating a portion of their proceeds to a local charity of their choice.
The entire community is encouraged to purchase lemonade from the many stands that will be set-up throughout the state.

More than 30 corporate sponsors have teamed up once again to bring Lemonade Day to Louisiana including Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, The Advocate Newspapers, Gibbs Construction, MAPP Construction, Acadian Companies, Level Homes and a host of statewide corporate sponsors and partners.
Lemonade Day Louisiana is a free, statewide program dedicated to teaching children how to start, own and operate their own business through the simple and time-honored act of building and running a lemonade stand. Young entrepreneurs are provided with free, detailed support materials to help them establish their lemonade stand on Lemonade Day.
Lemonade Day Louisiana was founded by entrepreneurs Todd Graves and John Georges in 2010 and has reached more than 100,000 kids. Lemonade Day's program is empowering today's youth to become tomorrow's entrepreneurs. One lemonade stand at a time.
