NEW ORLEANS – Leading pool and spa educator, the National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®) together with Genesis, an international leader in watershape design and construction, announced the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) will assign CEUs to Genesis courses being offered at the 2016 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo (PSP).
“APLD feels strongly that its practicing members should continue their education to stay abreast of new developments as they move through their professional careers,” says Denise Calabrese, Executive Director. “While APLD’s certified members have always had to obtain CEUs, we recently changed our policies to require this of professional and associate members as well. The PSP Expo gives our members the opportunity to meet those requirements.”
Thomas Lachocki, Ph. D., CEO of NSPF, said “Genesis is unmatched in its ability to bring experts in their field to pool builders, landscape designers and landscape architects seeking to hone their abilities and broaden their horizons. These courses present students with the latest tools, trends, and applications they need to take the quality of their water projects to the next level.”
Genesis educational programs will take place before the PSP Expo hall opens, commencing on October 30, 2016. Education will continue with the Genesis Lifestyle Program in Booth #657 on the show floor, which is open November 2-4, 2016, within the Genesis Pavilion. The four recurring themes that shape the Pre-Conference sessions: Design, Engineering, Construction, and Business will continue at the Genesis Pavilion throughout the PSP Expo. Genesis will also be presenting 10 sessions within PSP Expo’s core conference program.
“Anyone that wants to expand their knowledge base can find incredible educational opportunities at the International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo in New Orleans,” states Brian Van Bower, SWD Master and Genesis Ambassador. “The prospects for networking will be better than ever in the Genesis Pavilion, where attendees can connect with our instructors and students, share ideas, and relax with a glass of wine, all while participating in multiple educational programs in the expanded Lifestyle booth.”
Genesis education programs are ticketed events and seating is limited.

• Genesis DESIGN 231: Color Theory & Its Application (16 CEUs): Over 2 days students will discuss color as a basic means of communication and influencing emotions. This program introduces the basic dynamics of color, its principles, fundamentals, its psychology, and how to apply the science to project design. This program is required for the SWD Registered certification.
• Genesis DESIGN 211: Elements of Design (16 CEUs): This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of good design and will teach layout of different improvements in projects (e.g. pool, spa, patio, etc.).
