NEW ORLEANS – From Wednesday, August 24, through Friday, August 26, the Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council hosted GATEWAY, an annual conference sponsored by Chevron that encourages supplier diversity.
This premier, three-day conference took place at the New Orleans Marriott and drew hundreds of minority business owners, corporate decision makers, government officials and non-profit organizations from across the United States.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Pathway to Growth,” and focused on facilitating collaborations that help minority businesses expand their customer base. The conference provided venues for discussion, training, and business exhibition, as well as offered attendees an opportunity to meet decision makers in the southern business community.
During the event, the Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council honored Chevron with their prestigious “Corporation of the Year” award. The honor is given to a company committed to increasing procurement opportunities for minority business enterprises.
“Chevron believes in extending economic opportunity to the diverse communities in which we work and live,” said Leah Brown, Manager of Public Affairs for Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico Business Unit. “We’ve partnered with the Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council for over four decades and thank them for this award.”
