NEW ORLEANS – Thomas Hudson, president of G2 LNG, a liquefied natural gas export company, will be the keynote speaker at the World Trade Center’s “Future of Trade” Summit to be held May 9 at the Hilton Capitol Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Hudson will highlight the global significance of LNG and the impact this emerging sector will have on the Louisiana economy.
World Trade Center CEO Caitlin Cain says Hudson brings an important view on trade considering the growing role of liquefied natural gas in the world’s economy. “The U.S. is set to become a top three exporter of LNG, and Louisiana with an excess of $90 billion in LNG projects planned, under construction or operational, our state is positioned to be at the center of that growth,” she said. “We are thrilled to have Mr. Hudson speak on behalf of this industry and its significance to the Louisiana economy.”
In addition to the keynote address, the summit will feature two panel sessions focused on trade policy and free trade agreements followed by trends in financing, banking and currency. Reps said the impressive line-up of moderators and panelists include: Charles W. Boustany, Jr. MD, former U.S. Representative; Don Pierson, Secretary, Louisiana Economic Development; Edward T. Hayes, Partner, Leake and Andersson; Reuben Smith-Vaughn, senior director, Americas, U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Eugene Cornelius, Jr., deputy associate administrator, Office of International Trade, Small Business Administration; Don Sanders, director-partner, Orion Instruments; Alexander Lara, executive director and trade advisor for JP Morgan Chase; and Carson Strickland, senior vice president, Global Trade Finance, Regions Bank.
Hudson, an attorney who has focused on the energy sector his entire career, has held management positions in the oil and gas field, as well as represented independent and major energy companies. Previously, Hudson served as Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator John Breaux, executive assistant to U.S. Senator Bennett Johnston, Louisiana State Senator from 1976-1988, and managing partner of Brownstein, Hyatt, and Farber, where he participated in the permitting of a U.S. LNG Import Facility and counseled global interests engaged in the CFIUS process.
Hudson is a graduate of Louisiana State University in 1969, and Louisiana State University Law Center in 1971.
