NEW ORLEANS – The Friends of the New Orleans Council on Aging (FONOCOA) will host its eighth annual Masquerade Party Fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 13, from 8:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m., at the Corpus Christi Community Resource Center, 2022 St. Bernard Ave.
FONOCOA hopes to attract attendance from the broader community, especially young people, and raise funds for aging programs administered by the New Orleans Council on Aging (NOCOA). The event will help to support current social services provided by NOCOA and assist its older adult population, organizers said.
Tickets are $25 per person or $250 for a table seating of 10 people. The ticket price includes food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and entertainment. A Halloween costume contest will also be judged. The event will feature DJ Jubilee and an encore performed by Hot 8 Brass Band. Sponsors include Entergy New Orleans and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Department.
NOCOA programs include: Meals on Wheels, Homemakers, National & Senior Volunteer Program, SenioRx/ Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Senior Companion Program (SCP), Orleans Parish senior centers, and the Power to Care Utility Assistance Program.
NOCOA exists to protect the rights, promote the well-being, and enhance the self-esteem of New Orleans elderly by generating opportunities for self-reliance and independence, reps said.
