NEW ORLEANS – The Friends of Longue Vue (FLV) will present the 2017 Essence of Style Design Symposium featuring prominent interior designer Richard Keith Langham. From Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to Mrs. William F. Buckley to Hillary Swank, this Alabama-born designer has mastered residencies around the country and abroad. With a love for clear color and real comfort, his stylish rooms are grounded in English sensibilities, organizers said.
This year a second speaker, antique textile designer Rebecca Vizard, will add a complimentary and dynamic flair to the symposium, reps said. Widely considered a visionary for her innovative use of rare and beautiful textiles, Vizard is distinguished among today’s interior design community. Her compositions of unusual elements are complimented by exquisite craftsmanship and creative process, organizers said.
Chaired by Suzanne Krieger and Kathy Weidner, proceeds from the design symposium benefit Longue Vue House and Gardens.
The event kicks off with a designer reception at Longue Vue House and Gardens, 7 Bamboo Rd., on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy cocktails, catering by Brennan’s and conversation with both Langham and Vizard.
Tickets are $125.00.
The luncheon and lecture will take place on Friday, Nov. 3, at The Cannery, 3803 Toulouse St., with catering by Brennan’s. The speakers will present their expertise and be available for book signings. Attendees will also have the chance to win prizes, shop the Longue Vue gift shop and network.
Tickets are $125.00 for Longue Vue members and $145.00 for non-members.
