NEW ORLEANS – The French Market announced that Wednesday farmers market hours for the Crescent City Farmers Market will change from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. starting Wednesday February 3, 2016.
French Market reps said they altered the operating hours based on when the heaviest shopper traffic took place.
They also announced that “Making a Jazz Gumbo,” a live musical performance by a trio of musicians from the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, started Wednesday, January 27, and will recur every last Wednesday of the month from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Along with the music, there will be a cooking demonstration by local historian, tour guide and former restaurateur Dianne “GumboMarie” Honore on Wednesday, February 24 and Wednesday, March 30.
Every 2nd Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. another new program called, “Doc at the Market,” will be scheduled. There will be free health and fitness chats, Q&A sessions and workshops with local “Get Checked. Get Fit. Get Moving!” program director Eric “Doc” Griggs, MD, on Wednesday February 10, and Wednesday, March 9.
Last, the 33rd Annual French Market Mask Market will be staged during Mardi Gras weekend from Friday, February 5, through Monday, February 8, in Dutch Alley from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mask artisans from around the city and the country will showcase and sell their masks at the popular event.
