Foo Fighters, Kendrick Lamar Headline VooDoo Festival

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Foo Fighters were named a headliner of a Halloween weekend music and arts festival in New Orleans.

The Advocate’s Keith Spera reports the band, along with fellow alternative rockers The Killers, rapper Kendrick Lamar, DJ Snake and electronic band LCD Soundsystem were announced Tuesday as the main acts of the 19th Voodoo Festival.

From Oct. 27-29 the artists will join a lineup of more than 70 acts performing at the City Park Festival Grounds. The roster also includes Miguel, The Afghan Whigs, Charles Bradley and his Extrordinaires, and Galantis.

The festival is the second produced by C3 Presents, which also organizes the Austin City Limits Festival in Texas and Lollapalooza in Chicago. Attendance at Voodoo increased from previous years to 150,000 in 2016, the first year that festival co-director Don Kelly was in charge.

Kelly, who worked with Voodoo's founder, said they're working to improve on last year's success. The layout and configuration that greatly reduced sound bleeding among stages in 2016 will be essentially the same, and the popular vacuum-system flushing portable toilets will return, Kelly said.

The festival also features a haunted graveyard, expanded beer tent, carnival rides, and merchandise sold in an enclosed, climate-controlled, retail store-like setting instead of booths.
