NEW ORLEANS – Fleurty Girl’s owner Lauren LeBlanc Haydel announced via Facebook post her company is buying her Magazine Street T-shirt shop neighbor Storyville.
“This is truly bittersweet since they were the first shop to ever carry FG [Fleurty Girl],” Haydel’s Facebook post reads. “I’m honored for their T-shirt designs to live on within our company.”
Haydel also said she had hired all of Storyville’s employees.
According to The Advocate, Storyville announced in December it was planning to close due to slow sales.
The store at 3029 Magazine St. achieved maximum exposure when the NFL tried to tackle the small company over its use of the local slogan “Who Dat?” on its T-shirts.
Storyville, open for 10 years, also tried to recruit actor Brad Pitt to run for Mayor and printed the ubiquitous “Brad Pitt for Mayor” T-shirts, still seen around New Orleans.
Fleurty Girl has four store locations on Magazine Street, in the French Quarter, Metairie and Mandeville. There is also a Fleurty Girl showroom located on St. Charles Avenue.
